The Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is a young pledge from the Philippines, rushing into Music Festival Road, eager, excited and energetic.
To one day join the ranks of household names of the Coachella and Glastonbury festivals in San Diego and England, Malsimbo must complete the initiation: provide a unique concert experience that’s audiovisually stimulating and culturally invigorating.
The festival, which was held last March 2-4 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, proves that once over 3,000 people can party at the foot of a mountain, there’s no going back. Everyone else should too.
It’s time for the rest of the Philippines to follow suit, maybe next time by the beach, or even underneath a bunch of coconut trees.
