Ideas and appetites

Two of my department policies for next school year includes:

1. Use our meetings as an excuse to try out new restaurants and eat good food while discussing/fixing department related stress and plans

2. Share our hearts, desires, ideas and most especially your favorite cuisines and places to eat with one other! Since I’m VP I started with one of my favorite restaurants, Soms.

I have a penchant for Thai food. So, from the moment I officially became VP for projects I reserved Soms in my head, that famous hole-in-the-wall-but-not-as-good-as-it-used-to-be nook near Rockwell as the setting for our first ever department meeting.

I was excited! Not only to dig into my favorite Pad Thai, Tom Yam and drink the sweet milk tea goodness, but to get to know my AVP’s Kevin & Abby a bit better and to start planning our department reign. All it took was four hours to satisfy our appetite for good food and to nourish good ideas.

Then the next day, Saturday we met with Idge to present what we came up with. Of course I suggested Mercato Market another foodie treasure that has apparently been pirated… by almost everyone now.

Maybe I’m using these meetings as an excuse to stuff my face, but the way I see it is this: Work becomes easier to stomach when you taste it with something you enjoy doing, which in my case is eating! Since you have to work anyway, might as well find a way to make it fun.

Disclaimer: Most not all of the pictures after this jump is of my face because apparently good food is not only conducive to good ideas, but to vanity as well.

Idgey, another fellow food lover.

We’re a match made in foodie heaven!
